 A Family-Run Business

 

At UVA D’ITALIA, wine is more than a business — it is a family tradition that has been passed down through generations.

Our story began with our Nonno, Giuliano Grasso, a hardworking man who spent his younger years farming in Italy. Growing grapes and making wine was part of everyday life, with everything done traditionally, by hand — and sometimes by foot.

​

In the years following the Second World War, like many Italians searching for new opportunities, Giuliano left Italy at the age of 22 and moved to London with his wife to begin a new chapter of their lives.

​

Although London became his new home, he never left his Italian traditions behind. His passion for making wine continued, and before long, Giuliano began bringing Italian wine grapes to London for friends, family and neighbours who shared the same passion.

​

What started simply as helping a small community continue the tradition of making their own wine gradually grew into something much bigger.

​

Over the decades, Giuliano built a loyal community of winemakers and families who returned year after year for their Italian grapes. For many of them, making wine wasn’t simply about what went into the bottle — it was about family, friendship, tradition and keeping a little piece of Italy alive in the UK.

​

Today, his grandsons, Massimo and Giuliano Jr., proudly continue what their Nonno started.

​

Through UVA D’ITALIA, our aim is to preserve his legacy while taking the family business into a new generation. We source quality wine grapes directly from Italy and supply customers throughout London and across the UK, from families continuing traditions passed down for generations to people making their very first wine.

​

Although the business has grown, the principles behind it remain the same: quality grapes, personal service and a genuine passion for what we do.

​

From our Nonno’s beginnings to the next generation, we are proud to continue bringing a small part of Italy to wine-making families throughout the UK.
